WOMEN’S CIRCLE AND YOGA WORKSHOP
‘YOGA FOR BREAST health’
SUNDAY 25 OCTOBER, 2.00-3.3oPM, WANSTEAD URC
For breast-cancer awareness month - £5 from each ticket sale will go to a breast cancer charity.
‘An afternoon of nurturing, movement and self-care.’
A gentle and and nourishing afternoon workshop about caring for yourself and connecting with your body.
The breasts, the heart and the lymphatic system are all connected, and in this workshop we will explore this relationship, through both Yoga movement and philosophy.
Women’s breasts change throughout our lives - maintaining good spinal alignment, muscle tone, correct breathing and movement - matters. How we approach our Yoga practice can help support breast health, and in this workshop we will find how to adapt the Yoga asanas to breasts, rather than breasts to asanas!
This session will include some discussion and chat-time, but will focus mostly on body-based practices, including massage, breathwork, movement and relaxation - and how these can contribute to breast care and and breast health.
On arrival, enjoy a welcoming warm cup of herbal tea, and fresh fruit, followed by an introduction to ‘breast care’. Next you’ll learn a self-massage routine (taught over clothes) and then we’ll move into a gentle Yoga practice, ending with a deep relaxation, and a special gift to take home.
You’ll come away with simple self-care rituals to weave into your every day life, including a nourishing weekly breast-care routine to continue at home, ways to adapt your yoga practice, and more understanding of how to support your health and wellbeing… perhaps in ways you haven’t considered before!

I think all of us have been touched in one way or another in our lives by breast cancer. Deeply affected by this, Francoise Freedman, the founder of Birthlight, developed a training course for Yoga teachers in ‘Yoga for breast health’ which I attended during my initial teacher training year in 2024. This workshop is inspired by her teachings, which I continue to draw upon in my classes.
